Crane creek, Texas — A crane has fallen off a cliff, breaking a metal pole and sending it careening into a river, a state official says.
State Natural Resources Department spokesman Dave Tarrant said the crane fell in Crane Creek in northwest Texas.
A local man has been arrested, Tarrants office said in a statement.
Tarrant says the crane, which was anchored with a large metal pole, fell on top of a waterway, and was caught in the river and is now being removed.
The crane, with the metal pole anchored at the base, fell to the river on Tuesday and the water is still flowing downstream, he said.
The agency says the area is about 20 feet deep.
The agency will continue to monitor the area.
